BC Veneer Products Ltd. is a producer of high grade, fine quality veneers. We use the finest softwood and hardwood logs harvested from the cold, slow growing regions of British Columbia, Canada. Our wood products display the fine and unique characteristics from this renewable resource.
Our attention to value recovery and enhancement through individual log planning, preparation and processing gives our customers the maximum return available from their veneer and lumber purchases.
BC Veneer Products ensures the consistent quality and appearance of our products by personally selecting the fiber we purchase. Each log segment we process can be matched to our customer’s requirements for colour, length, grain pattern/orientation and unique end uses.
History
BC Veneer purchased an existing slicing plant located in Surrey, British Columbia, in March of 1997. Immediately, we began a program of product and market diversification.
A significant portion of our production is exported. We also supply a number of BC’s companies with our high standard material.
BC Veneer operates two production centers at our location. Due to a major fire, we lost our sawmill and production has been slowed down slightly. We are currently making ready for the installation of a new sawmill.
We are operating a veneer slicing and drying center and when the sawmill has been installed we will also have a log breakdown center.
The log break down center includes a log splitter for oversize logs, a headrig to produce slicing flitches, and steam conditioning kilns to prepare the flitches for slicing.
The veneer slicing and drying center includes a Capital (vertical) slicer, a Shilde dryer, a number of veneer shearers and clippers, a chop saw line and a knife grinding center.
At full single shift production, the plant can process 3,000 cubic meters of raw logs annually.
